摘 要
《红楼梦》中涉及到的人物有772人。学术界对贾宝玉、林黛玉、薛宝钗乃至贾探春等形象的有关研究论著、论文很多。相比之下，贾母这1极重要的形象，则处于相对弱势的研究领域。我认为在作品中宝钗城府，黛玉狭窄，探春谋略，迎春懦弱，惜春冷漠，袭人奸佞，晴雯骄躁，谈到人物的真实生动哪个也比不上贾母。众人称贾母为老太太，阿凤称之老祖宗，僧称老菩萨，刘姥姥称老寿星，这就指出了贾母形象的丰富、鲜活与多元。众称号都冠以“老”字，表明其年龄特征。确实，在她身上老年人的言谈、举止、心态都显得很突出。她信奉世俗享乐主义，爱热闹怕寂寞，因而，1幕幕子孙承欢膝下、共尽天伦、其乐融融的生活剧才得以上演，摆家筵、吃寿酒、共赏戏等丰富多彩的场面才得以展现。有人将贾母的形象归纳为3点：第1，她不是1般的母亲，而是地位更高层、环境更复杂的老祖母；第2，她说明了1个女家长在中国社会上的权威与才能；第3，她被塑造成中国大家庭老太太最完整最形象化的典型。”她与已往史传、小说、戏曲中缺乏个性神采的贤母、恶妇形象相距不啻天壤，她复杂真实，保持着性格张力。
