An Analysis of God in The Color Purple
Abstract
Alice Walker is one of three famous black women writer in American. The Color Purple is an epistolary novel. As a receiver, God play an important role in this novel. In Celie’s mind, God is not just a changing image, but also encourages her from a weak-kneed woman to a confident and staunch woman. As a traditional woman, Celie looks for God in the letter, but she doesn’t find anything. She considers that God is just a listener and can not bring anything to her. However, Shug who is a modern woman believes God is the symbol of freedom, equality and humanity, and encourages Celie to look for God through fighting for the proper rights. Therefore, Celie free herself successfully, and understands that the best way of adoring God is to enjoy the life and love each other. Man is not God and woman also has her own rights. Only the person who is full of self-confidence and lives with dignity is the real people.

摘要
艾丽丝•沃克是美国3大著名黑人女作家之1。《紫色》是1部长篇书信体小说，上帝作为收信人在小说中占有重要的地位。上帝在西莉的头脑中不仅仅是1个不断变化的意象，还鼓励她从1个懦弱可欺的女人变成1个自信坚强的.女人。作为1名传统女性，西莉在信中寻找上帝，但是她没有得到任何东西。她认为上帝只是1个听众而且不能给她带来任何东西。然而作为现代女性的莎格则认为上帝是自由、平等和人权的象征，并且鼓励西莉要在争取应有权利的斗争中去寻找上帝。因此，西莉成功的解脱了自己。并且明白了享受生活并待人以爱才是崇拜上帝的最好方式。男人不是上帝，妇女也有自己的权利，只有充满自信和有尊严活着的人才是1个真正的人。
